New Fire Chief Appointed

At a regular meeting of Windsor Town Council on December 15, 2009, council passed a motion that Interim Fire Chief Burgess be appointed the new Fire Chief for the Windsor Fire Department (WFD).  Mayor Beazley says that, "Chief Burgess has earned the respect of Windsor Council and the CAO, and has demonstrated his ability over the past year."

Scott Burgess joined the WFD in July 1988 and has served as fire fighter, driver, lieutenant, captain, and deputy chief, as well as a member of the executive for 16 years.  Chief Burgess has definitely worked through the ranks in a field he has a strong passion for.  As one fellow WFD member pointed out, Chief Burgess pulled everyone together through former Chief, Fred Fox's illness.  Chief Burgess commented that he is "proud to accept the position; however, it is very unfortunate as to why it needed to be filled."  He also stated that he "knows he has big boots to fill but will commit to trying to fill them."  (Photo l - r:  Councillor Seeley, Mayor Beazley, Fire Chief Burgess, CAO Coutinho, Deputy Mayor Murley and Councillor Galbraith)
